About Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist monument in the world, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Built in the 9th century by the Syailendra Dynasty, it remains one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites.
Experience the Journey
Walking from the east side, you will witness the temple structure in its entirety and stand at the location where the Maharaja of the Syailendra Dynasty set foot to worship the greatness of the Creator. As you explore the beautiful reliefs, you will gain an understanding of human life through Buddhist philosophy within the context of ancient Javanese culture.

• Available Days: Tuesday to Sunday
• Closed: Every Monday (temple maintenance)
• Operational Hours: 09.00 – 17.00 WIB
• Maximum Visitors per Day: 1,200 people
• Visiting Sessions: 8 sessions daily (08.30–17.00)
• Session Duration: 90 minutes per group
• Ticket Validity: Only on selected visit date
• Non-refundable & valid for one-time entry

• Mandatory guide for all visitors: 1 guide per 10–15 visitors
• Included Languages: English (for foreign tourists), Indonesian (for domestic tourists / KITAS Holder)

• Private guide available with extra fee:

• IDR 30,000/person (foreign)

7. 14:30 – 16:00 WIB
8. 15:30 – 17:00 WIB
Late arrival after 16:00? Monument access is no longer available, but you may explore the temple courtyard.

Before Climbing the Monument
• Use the special temple footwear Upanat provided—yours to keep as a souvenir!
• Enter from the East Gate, exit via the West Gate
• Time limit at the monument: 1 hour
• Follow your guide and stay on the designated path

While at the Temple
Prohibited:
• Eating & drinking
• Smoking
• Littering
• Touching or leaning on the reliefs
• Climbing on temple structures
• Flying drones
• Bringing pets
• Carrying sharp objects

1. Visitors enter through the exclusive VIP entrance at Manohara.
2. More convenient and direct access to the temple.
2. Access to the Temple
1. BMP Ticket holders can visit up to the temple monument.
2. Temple access is subject to the same preservation rules as the regular ticket.

o Audio-visual experience (Film “Learning from Borobudur”).

4. Reservation Policy
