The Love Story of Roro Jonggrang
This legendary story begins with the defeat of King Damarmoyo by King Boko the father of Princess Roro Jonggrang
With a heart full of sorrow King Damarmoyo shared his grief with his son Bandung Bondowoso
Burning with anger and a desire for revenge Bandung challenged King Boko to a fierce battle and emerged victorious
Yet in the midst of his triumph his eyes fell upon a woman of extraordinary beauty Roro Jonggrang
From the very first moment Bandung fell deeply in love with the princess
However Roro Jonggrang was consumed by resentment
She could not accept the fact that the man who loved her was the one who had killed her father
With clever deception she set an impossible condition
If Bandung truly wished to marry her he must build one thousand temples in a single night
With the help of supernatural forces Bandung nearly completed the impossible task
But Roro Jonggrang had no intention of fulfilling her promise
She awakened the villagers to pound rice creating the illusion that dawn had arrived
Believing morning had come the spirits fled before finishing their work
When Bandung realized the deception his anger exploded
In his fury he cursed Roro Jonggrang turning her into a stone statue
Thus completing the thousandth temple that was left unfinished
From that moment Roro Jonggrang stood eternally in silence
Immortalized in stone as a timeless legend of love betrayal and destiny

Terms and Conditions of the Ticket

Prambanan Riverfront Amphitheatre

No seat numbers are assigned. Visitors are free to choose their seats within the selected ticket zone.
The seat number selected during the transaction is only used to indicate seat availability, not as an assigned seat.
Tickets are valid only for the date selected at the time of purchase.

Outdoor Theatre/Open Air Theatre

There are no seat numbers for Class I and Class II Outdoor tickets.
Guests are free to choose any seat within their ticket class on a first-come, first-served basis.
VIP and Special Class tickets include assigned seat numbers.
The seat number shown during booking for Class I and Class II is only used to indicate seat availability, not for fixed seating arrangements.

Tickets cannot be canceled and are non-refundable.
Children under 5 years old are free if seated on a parent’s lap. If occupying a separate seat, the full ticket price applies.
Children aged 5 years and above are subject to the full ticket price.
Bringing snacks, beverages, or meals into the venue is not allowed.
Performances are held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Visitors are expected to enter the performance area no later than 5 minutes before the show begins.
Ramayana management reserves the right to deny entry to visitors who cannot present a valid identification card.
