The Love Story of Roro Jonggrang
This tale begins with the defeat of King Damarmoyo at the hands of King Boko, the father of Princess Roro Jonggrang.

Heartbroken, King Damarmoyo shared his sorrow with his son, Bandung Bondowoso.

Fueled by rage, Bandung vowed revenge. He challenged King Boko to battle and ultimately emerged victorious. But in the midst of his triumph, his eyes caught sight of an extraordinary beauty—Roro Jonggrang. In that fleeting moment, he fell deeply in love.

However, Roro Jonggrang’s heart was clouded with vengeance. She could never love the man who had slain her father. With cunning and deceit, she set an impossible condition—if Bandung wished to marry her, he must build a thousand temples in a single night.

With the aid of his supernatural army, Bandung nearly completed the task. But Roro Jonggrang, unwilling to fulfill her promise, tricked him by waking the villagers early and having them pound rice, mimicking the sounds of dawn. Fooled into believing the sun was rising, Bandung’s mystical army fled before finishing the last temple.

Realizing the betrayal, Bandung was consumed by fury. In his wrath, he cursed Roro Jonggrang, turning her into a stone statue—the final piece to complete the thousand temples. From that day forward, she remained frozen in time, a tragic legend whispered through the ages.

• No seat numbers are assigned. Visitors are free to choose their seats within the selected ticket zone.
• The seat number selected during the transaction is only used to indicate seat availability, not as an assigned seat.
• Tickets are valid only for the date selected at the time of purchase.

• Children under 5 years old are free if seated on a parent’s lap. If occupying a separate seat, the full ticket price applies.

• Performances are held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
• Visitors are expected to enter the performance area no later than 5 minutes before the show begins.
• Ramayana management reserves the right to deny entry to visitors who cannot present a valid identification card.
