Time Schedule
04:00 AM – Early wake-up and breakfast at the hotel.
05:00 AM – Pickup from your hotel in Banyuwangi. Depart by jeep for a 1 hour 15-minute drive to the Mount Ijen basecamp.
Along the way, enjoy picturesque views of rice terraces with traditional buffalo plowing, and pass through plantations of clove, cinnamon, coffee, and gmelina. Continue through dense jungle landscapes where birds and monkeys are often seen.
06:30 AM – Arrive at Paltuding, the last parking area. Begin the 3 km uphill trek to the summit of Mount Ijen on a moderately challenging trail.
During the hike, observe local miners carrying sulfur loads of up to 65 kg from the crater.
08:00 AM – Reach the summit. Enjoy panoramic views of the Ijen Crater, home to Java’s largest acidic lake with a vibrant turquoise hue. Witness sulfur mining activities and take in the rugged volcanic landscape.
08:30 AM – Begin the descent back to Paltuding.
09:30 AM – Return journey by jeep. Optional short stops can be arranged to explore nearby plantations.
11:00 AM – Arrive back at your hotel.
End of service.
