Jomblang Cave is in fact one of hundreds of Caves found within Gunug Kidul. The cave is a vertical collapse doline type which was formed by the geological process when the soil and all vegetations on it plunged beneath the surface of the earth some thousands of years ago. The collapse created a sinkhole of approximately 50 meters in diameter which became the mouth of the cave. The sinkhole is known to locals as “Luweng”, thus the cave is also known locally as Luweng Jomblang.

Jomblang Cave is a popular tourist destination located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is a natural cave with a unique feature - a shaft of light that enters the cave from a hole in the ceiling, illuminating the cave floor and creating a mystical atmosphere. Visitors can participate in a Jomblang Cave tour, which involves rappelling down the 60-meter deep cave using specialized equipment and exploring the cave’s interior with a guide. The tour is not recommended for those with a fear of heights or claustrophobia, and visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities. The cave tour typically takes around 4-5 hours and includes transportation to and from the cave, equipment rental, and a guide. It is important to note that the cave is only accessible during the dry season (between May and October) due to safety concerns during the rainy season.

The Amazing Race Jomblang Cave : To descend down Jomblang Cave, one must have sufficient caving ability, particularly the Single Rope Technique (SRT) or using single rope to ascend and descend vertically. However for beginners or those with little caving experiences, there are many professional cavers who can guide and assist to reach the floor of the cave. Cavers can choose from 4 different tracks with varying heights. The first is known as the VIP track which features 15 meters of a “walkable” steep slope followed by about 20 meters SRT descend. This track is known as the most common and easiest, hence the name VIP. Other 3 tracks present higher challenges since visitors must descend the SRT line from higher altitudes: 80 meters for track A, 60 meters for Track B, and 40 meters for track C.

The peak of the Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano is at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, which is one of the sunrise spots that are often hunted by morning sun lovers. takes about 50-60 minutes to get to this location. Mount Gedhe as the western peak of this Ancient Volcano has a rather spacious condition but cannot be used for camping/setting up tents. If you want to go camping or set up a tent, you can simply shift down about 50 meters. There is a very strategic camping ground where you can take shelter from the strong winds at the top of the Ancient Volcano. From the top of Mount Gedhe we can also enjoy the splendor of Mount Lima Jari.
