Destinations

Borobudur Temple

Built by the Sailendra Dynasty between AD 780 and 840, Borobudur is the world’s largest Buddhist monument. It was designed as a place of worship and pilgrimage to guide devotees toward enlightenment. Rediscovered in 1814 by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the temple was fully unearthed by 1835.

Pawon & Mendut Temples

These two smaller temples, Pawon and Mendut, are aligned with Borobudur and believed to hold a significant religious connection. Pawon is located 1.15 km from Borobudur, while Mendut is 3 km away. Though the exact ritual process remains a mystery, they are considered part of a sacred pilgrimage route.

Prambanan Temple

Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia, was built in the 9th century. It is first mentioned in the Syiwagrha Inscription (856 AD) and features three main temples dedicated to the Hindu Trimurti:

Shiva – The destroyer of the universe
Vishnu – The preserver of the universe
Brahma – The creator of the universe
