Travel Information Indonesia — Up-to-Date & Visitor Friendly
Indonesia continues to welcome travelers with open arms, and recent changes make visiting easier, smoother, and more modern than ever. Whether you’re after beach paradises, cultural experiences, volcanoes, or jungle escapes, these are the essentials to know before you go.
What’s New — Key Entry & Immigration Rules
• All Indonesia Arrival Card / App (from September-October 2025)
A new unified digital system called All Indonesia has been introduced. It replaces several previous forms (immigration, customs, health, quarantine) with a single declaration to be filled out via website or mobile app. (Indulgexpress)
You can complete this up to 3 days before arrival. Once submitted, you’ll get a QR code to show on arrival. It’s free. (Indulgexpress)
• Visa on Arrival & e-VoA Updates
Indonesia offers Visa on Arrival (VoA) or electronic VoA (e-VoA) for many nationalities. The process has been streamlined via platforms like VFS Global.
But note: if you plan to extend your stay, there are new rules. From 29 May 2025, extensions for VoA / e-VoA require online registration plus an in-person visit for document verification and biometric data. (lmiconsultancy.com)
• Respecting Local Culture & Guidelines (especially in Bali)
In Bali, a new circular (SE No. 7 of 2025) spells out expectations for foreign visitors: modest clothing at temples and sacred places, respectful behaviour in public areas, and paying a tourist levy (Rp 150,000) to support cultural preservation etc. (ANTARA News)
What Travelers Should Prepare / Check
• Make sure your passport is valid (usually at least six months remaining) and you have any required visas.
• Complete the All Indonesia arrival card ahead of travel and have the QR code ready.
• If you’re extending your visa (VoA / e-VoA), plan for at least one visit to the immigration office.
• Respect local customs — dress modestly in sacred places; follow signage and local rules.
• Be aware of the tourist levy if you’re staying in places like Bali.
Why Indonesia is Still a Great Destination
• Rich variety: beaches, mountains, jungles, volcanoes, culture & heritage across thousands of islands.
• Natural wonders like the Blue Fire at Ijen, Komodo dragons, lush tea plantations, underwater diving, etc.
• Infrastructure improving: better digital systems, smoother entry procedures, more tourist-friendly services.
• Warm hospitality local experiences everywhere (food, culture, crafts).
