The Peak of Suroloyo Borobudur

Feels truly magical in the pavillion on the peak of suroloyo is the highest hill of Mount Menoreh it is 1,091 meters above sea level ! Located Dusun Keceme, Gerbosari, Kecamatan Samigaluh, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta. Overlooking the surounding mountains.
Could be the sacred energy that makes it a pilgrimage site. Could be the giddiness after climbing the 290 steps or could simply be the crisp clean air.

Go weekday early in the morning and have the whole peak to yourself!
View depends on weather, can be clear or foggy. Beautiful kampung scenery along the way. On your way back make a stop at Bu Marwiyah’s Menoreh Coffee stall at Madigondo, Sidoharjo, about 6km/20minutes away.

You’d love your cup of very fresh java, locally grown & roasted!

It took an hour plus to reach the place from Yogyakarta. It is high above, so the air is nice and fresh. Not many activities in the morning (I was there 5-7am to photo sunrise) nor food/drink to sell. The stairway to the top is quite steep not but not too long.

The sunset view is better. From the peak you could see many mountains and some said in the clear day you could see Borobodur as well. this place is worth visiting on the first day of the New Year.

How to get there please use Small Car like Innova or Avansa maksimum 5 person in the car.
